Remembrance Service 2017
10 November 2017
Each morning this week, Miss Turton has led an assembly; ably assisted by Yr8 Students who have shared with us their research into local WW1 heroes. Some of these heroes are relatives of the students telling thier story. It has been a very moving experience and illustrates how war touches every life.
Students have written messages of remembrance, hope and love, onto red poppies and these are on display around school and in the foyer. It is humbling to read the messages and see such a wonderful display of remembrance.
On Friday morning we gathered at the front of school for the Remembrance Ceremony itself. The sun shone for us and we were taken back in time by the beautiful sound of Mollie Neale singing Vera Lynne's classic songs 'White Cliffs of Dover' and 'We'll Meet Again'. We listened to words and poems by Father Phillip Swanson, Students and teachers; before Miss Branch played 'The Last Post'.
A big thank you to everybody who played a part in Remembrance week.
