We are learning... about the Bible
03 March 2016
Recently, in RE we have been learning about the Bible. One of the questions we have been exploring is whether the Bible is still relevant in our world today, in our modern society. I believe that the Bible is still relevant for many reasons. One such reason is that people every day have to swear on the Bible in court to show the court room, judge and jury that they are telling the truth. If they are lying, then this is a sin. Also, the Bible could be used to solve conflict in our lives or the world around us. This could be done through taking inspiration from Jesus when he told us to 'love our enemies' Matthew 5:43.

We have also explored how and why the Bible is a source of inspiration for millions of people around the world. There are many reasons for this, but one such reason is that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is a book of guidance. When you are uncertain of a decision you are about to make, the Bible will always be there to give advice, for example in the Ten Commandments from Exodus 20. Secondly, the Bible can help people when they are struggling and in a bad time in their lives. The Bible can show you what is right and what is wrong, and how you can make up for any wrong doings, as Jesus teaches us about forgiveness and how to act. Thirdly, the Bible is the inspired Word of God and by looking at the Bible you are looking to God as well and can be inspired by what is in the Bible. For example, when you read the creation story in Genesis 1 it might inspire you to take better care of God's creation. Finally, the Bible is a source of inspiration because it gives people hope and faith. Faith that what they have decoded is good for themselves and others. Hope for the future and to have faith in God.
