We are IET Faraday Challenge Day Winners

31 March 2017

The IET Faraday Challenge Day involved 423 schools across the country competing in a number of days to find engineering, technology and computing answers to real life problems.

This year it is in association with the Land Rover, Ben Ainsley Racing Team to find ways they can use a BBC Micro:bit and coding to help improve their personal performance, their boat's performance or reduce environmental impact on their race.

On Thursday, 30th March 2017 at the Liverpool John Moores University, our group of 6 students competed against 5 other teams to win the day by outscoring the others in areas such as teamwork, leadership, innovation, initiative, outcome and problem solving.

Well done to the following students who were part of the winning team: Lauren H, Heather L, Hannah L, Thomas W, Tomas K and Nathan W.

The winning team from each event will take home an Amazon voucher for themselves as well as gaining a place on the league table. The top five teams at the end of the season will go forward into the National Final in July 2017 where they will be treated to an all-expenses-paid trip to the venue in Portsmouth as well as be in with the chance of taking home £1,000 for their school to spend on STEM activities.  Watch this space as we wait to hear ....
