Principal's Assembly Christmas 2015
18 December 2015
What a fantastic end to Advent Term!
The whole school gathered to celebrate what has been a very busy time indeed. We were feeling very festive in our Christmas jumpers and tinsel, the proceeds of which will go to the fund for Matthew Lee and our welfare fund.

Father Swanson our Chair of Governors started off the assembly reminding us of the true meaning of Christmas and thanking everybody for their hard work this term.
Next we heard from Dignity and Hope House Heads Miss Feeney and Miss Bowler who gave their Advent term House reports.
Miss Hughes followed with an update about the 'Culture Box'. We were told that we have been paired with an American school. Our box already contains some typical 'British' items but we were invited to contribute more next term. It will be exciting to see what our American counterparts add to their box.

Faith & Unity House Advent term reports were next from Mr Mearns and Miss Anderson.
Miss Smith then called out the students who had achieved 100% attendance this term. The winner Rachel Collins of Yr.9 won a digital camera. Well done to all of those students on their fantastic attendance!
The final report of the assembly was delivered by our Head of School Mrs Twist. Who thanked staff and students for their hard work and efforts this term. She mentioned in particular the fundraising for Matthew which the whole school has really supported, and how happy she was to once more see us all joined together in worship at the Advent Mass. We also said goodbye to Mrs Hughes (pictured below) from Technology who is leaving to spend more time with her family.
Miss Twist then announced that the winners of the House Championship trophy were Faith House. The trophy was collected by Faith House Captains, Lucy Sinkinson, Alicia Voce and Georgina Martin. Well done to Faith House!
Finally we were treated to a staff and pupil rendition of 'The Twelve Days of Christmas'. Our Year 7 students in particular will have been amazed to see Mr Mearns, Mr Platt and Mr Arkell doing scissorkicks as the ten lords a leaping, also the sight of Miss Smith draped in a French flag with her two other french hens will remain in the memory. A really great effort from all! Well done to all of the performers, choreographers and musicians involved.
Here are some more photographs from the day. Watch out for 'Christmas Jumper Day....The Movie (coming soon)
Have a safe, Happy and Holy Christmas everybody!
