Ash Wednesday service
01 March 2017
Today, Ash Wednesday, marks the beginning of Lent and our School Chaplain, Father Phil Swasnon led a lovely service in the chapel at lunchtime. Lent is a time of repentance, fasting and reflecting. We remember the time when Jesus was in the desert for 40 days and 40 nights without food or water.
We received ashes. They are a symbol of being sorry for things we have done wrong and want to get rid of forever.
The marking on the forehead with ash marks the commitment to Jesus Christ and God.
