We are delighted that so many of our Y11 students have signed up to this summer’s National Citizen Service programme.
The 4 week programme is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for 15-17 year olds. The NCS programme helps build skills for work and life whilst taking on new challenges, meeting new friends allowing the young people to gain new skills for their CV. It’s also an unforgettable experience which builds confidence and independence.
The 28 students who have signed up from our school (that’s double the amount of students who signed up last year) will join a number of other local school leavers for a fun-packed experience to include:
Phase 1- Adventure: (residential) During Phase 1 of the programme young people work together and get active – staying at a residential centre and taking part in a range of outdoor activities like abseiling, kayaking, hiking, rock-climbing and more.
Phase 2- Discovery: (residential) Develop the skills to get ahead with UCAS or job applications. Think public speaking and using enterprise to help invest in the local community.
Phase 3- Action: (non-residential) A chance for young people to make their mark! After meeting a charity or community organisation the team come up with ideas for a project to make a difference before having the chance to present their project to a panel of professionals and gain feedback.
Good luck to all our students; we’re sure you’ll have a great experience and we look forward to hearing all about it when you collect your results on GCSE Results Day.
