Amazing Lent Fundraising

Amazing Lent Fundraising

Students collect Toiletries as part of Lent Fundraising

St Cuthbert’s students and staff have a long tradition of fundraising and supporting local charities – the charities we regularly fundraise for are Cafod, Willowbrook Hospice and St Cuthbert's Student Wellbeing Fund.

However, we were asked this Lent to think about 'Our warm welcome', a charity to welcome refugees and asylum seekers to our town. This is close to us at St Cuthbert’s as we have welcomed friends to our school in the last couple of years.  We also decided to share the donations with St Helens Food Bank, again a charity close to us.  To this end, our students and staff were tasked with helping with donations of toiletries by way of a competition across year groups, with the winning year group receiving a small prize.

Yesterday, the large collection of toiletries were sorted and counted by our Year 7 volunteers and we are delighted to announce that we have an amazingly huge total of donations of:

  • Over 110 tubes of toothpaste
  • Over 200 soaps
  • Over 600 shower gels
  • Over 70 deodorants
  • Over 40 shampoos

We are so grateful to all our students and staff for their very kind and generous donations which will make a difference to so many people.

After Easter, we have been invited to work with Our Warm Welcome to speak about the benefits of our fundraising.
