Miss Smith
How long have you worked at St Cuthbert's?
since September 2002
Can you share a favourite memory about St Cuthbert's?
The end of year assembly in 2014. Miss New, Mr Anderson & Miss Shorrock were all retiring from teaching and we wanted to send them off in style. I created a flashmob of Pharrell Williams “Happy” comprising singers, gymnasts, brass band and a dancing rugby team. Every student and colleague that I asked to get involved said yes and threw themselves in to it with enthusiasm. It was a great example of the Cuthie's family working together
What made you go into teaching/working in a supporting role in school?
From the age of 9 I wanted a job where I could speak French every day, then at 12 I had a really amazing English teacher called Mr Garraway who inspired me.
What is the best bit of advice you can give to your students?
All your teachers were students once— we made all the mistakes so you don’t have to!
What do you enjoy most about working at St Cuthbert's?
The thing I enjoy most about working at St. Cuthbert’s is the people. Since the very first time I stepped through the main reception doors, I have felt welcome by both staff and students and have felt part of a family.
