School Direct is a school-led initial teacher training (ITT) scheme, run by a partnership between a lead school, other schools and an accredited teacher training provider (Liverpool Hope University). We have 8 schools in our Aspirational Teaching Alliance (Hope Academy as the lead school) with a range of multi-faith, catholic, community and one sixth-form college. What is School Direct?
School Direct is a one year full-time route into teaching, leading to PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and Masters credits. Assessment is continuous throughout the course through the development of a portfolio of evidence of teaching practice and includes academic components through Liverpool Hope University.
The Aspirational Teaching Alliance St. Helens offers the non-salaried School Direct Training Programme. This is open to all graduates who possess a good quality degree in a National Curriculum or relevant applied discipline, plus grade C or above in GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths. You will pay tuition fees (£9,250) and may be eligible for a bursary from the Teaching Agency.
