The inspection graded our overall Catholic education as ‘Good’, with Outstanding Catholic Life and Mission – a reflection of the daily commitment, heart, and faith that shape every aspect of life at St Cuthbert’s.
At the core of who we are is our renewed mission and values – the 4 Cs: Courage, Commitment, Compassion, and Community. These values aren’t just posters on a wall; they’re lived out every day in our classrooms, corridors, assemblies, and beyond. Whether it’s through small acts of kindness, mutual respect, or meaningful outreach into our local community, our students and staff truly embody what it means to live with purpose and faith.
Inspectors highlighted how “students express pride in belonging to the school community and feel deeply supported and known by staff.” We’re especially proud of the recognition for our exceptional pastoral care and the way relationships across the school are grounded in kindness, compassion, and mutual respect.
Leadership across the school was described as “exceptional and inspirational”, with a strong team of leaders and governors who are united by our Catholic mission and fully committed to every child’s growth – spiritually, academically, and personally.
Our Headteacher, Mr Stuart Holland, reflected on the report by saying:
“This is a proud moment for our school, for the community and for the quality of Catholic education in the area.
We are motivated by our school’s Catholic identity, and known for caring for each child as an individual – that’s at the heart of Catholic education.
We are a school where everyone is valued, where everyone matters and where everyone is encouraged to ‘live life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10).”
We’re also grateful to our parents and carers, who share and support our mission every step of the way.
One Year 11 parent recently shared:
“We are delighted that we chose St Cuthbert’s for our son. As well as always looking out for him over the past five years, the school has challenged him to achieve his best.”
While we’re celebrating this affirmation of our Catholic life, we’re also looking forward. As part of our ongoing journey, we’re focused on providing even more opportunities for students to lead and shape worship, and to continue growing in faith, knowledge, and love.
Thank you to our whole school community – students, staff, families, governors and parish – for helping make St Cuthbert’s a place where our faith is lived out with joy, purpose and pride.
