Year 9 Options

Welcome to the Year 9 KS4 Options page.

Year 9 parents/carers attended our KS4 Options Evening on Thursday, 12th February 2026.

Please note: KS4 option choices should be made carefully and with a long-term view. Subjects at Key Stage 4 are designed to be academically and practically challenging, and students are expected to commit fully to their chosen courses. Options should not be viewed as a ‘taster’. Once the options process has closed, courses cannot be changed simply because a subject is found to be demanding or more difficult than expected. For this reason, no option changes will be permitted in September.

A few key reminders:

• > All option forms will be reviewed fairly after the deadline of Monday, 2nd March 2026.
• > GCSE, BTEC and NCFE Level 1/2 qualifications are equivalent in standard.
• > Once courses begin in Year 10, changes are extremely difficult, so careful consideration now is important. Please use the Year 9 Careers Google Classroom to research subjects and careers (Code 7663k7q).
• > Students must select one subject from each option block, including a first preference and two reserve choices.

 > The deadline for submission is: Monday, 2nd March 2026.  After this date, any changes must be made in writing by parents/carers.

We expect to inform you of decisions by Monday, 20th April 2026.

We encourage families to take time to read the booklet carefully and discuss choices thoroughly at home before submitting.
