Curriculum Overview and Rationale

Personal Development (PD) encompasses a number of topics including:

·         Equality and Diversity

·         Character education and Growth Mindset

·         PSHE

·         Relationships and sex education

·         Citizenship

·         Healthy Lifestyles

·         Online safety

·         SMSC

·         British Values

·         Extra-curricular activities and Trips

·         Cultural Capital

·         Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance. (CEIAG)

The delivery is threaded right through the curriculum and is very much part of our culture at St Cuthbert’s.

In additions to topics covered across all of our subjects, we also have stand-alone PD lessons in years 7, 8 and 9; and Drop Down Days for all years – one per year group.

We also have excellent relationships with outside providers and we plan relevant sessions throughout the year to ensure there are no gaps in the curriculum. We also plan bespoke sessions for individuals, small groups or whole year groups as required.

We aim to equip our students with the knowledge, social ability and skill set so that they aspire to be the best they can be in all aspects of their lives as they embark on their future as young adults.
