Welcome from Mrs Twist

Firstly and most importantly, I hope that both you and your families are keeping safe and well. In these challenging and uncertain times, I hope that this special area of our website will reassure you that we are doing everything we can to make sure that your move to secondary school is as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

Although it might sound strange, some things haven't changed at all! It remains to be the case that we are delighted that you have chosen St Cuthbert’s as your secondary school and we are excited for you to experience what school life is like here. Unfortunately, however, it looks very likely that we are going to have to make some changes to our calendar of transition events.  If you have older siblings or if you have previously looked at the information on our website, then you are probably already aware that we normally offer the following:

  • Year 6 Parents’ Welcome Evening at St Cuthbert’s
  • Year 6 Parents/Carers and students individualized meeting with a member of the Senior Leaderships Team at St Cuthbert’s
  • Induction Days at St Cuthbert’s

Although we've come out of lockdown and restrictions are beginning to ease, it is likely that some or all of these events will be affected. Where possible, we will be changing the format of the sessions so that disruption is kept to an absolute minimum.

You can find all of our current and upcoming plans on this section of the website which will include:

  • A warm welcome to you from Mrs Twist, Headteacher of St Cuthbert's
  • Introduce you to your Heads of Year 7
  • Introduce key and important members of the Year 7 team
  • Find out who your Form Tutor is and virtually meet them
  • Use our special 3D Map to navigate around the school and find key areas and classrooms
  • Updated information about Induction Days
  • Receive a St Cuthbert's special-filled bag which will help you be ready for when you start with us in September

I hope that these updates are helpful for you and we will continue to keep you informed as things progress. In the meantime, I wish you all the best as you continue to adapt to these changes.
