Last week, our Student Council enjoyed a Day Retreat to Lowe House as part of an Animate workshop.
Our students enjoyed some team-building exercises, played team games and explored the Lowe House grounds.
With a special theme decided, the day was filled with activities and gave our young people the opportunity to take part in various tasks, keeping their attention focused.
Animate was set up as a response to people in the Diocese naming Youth Ministry as one of their top 3 priorities to be addressed. It was decided that the best way to address Youth Ministry in our Diocese was to set up a team of young people who could minister to other young people.
Year 7 student, Victor said "I loved my day with Animate! It was my first trip since starting St Cuthbert's and we had lots of fun."
The Animate Team are a group of young people aged between 18 and 25 who offer a year or more of their life to live in the community and to work with young people in the Diocese. The team consists of a Director (Fr. Simon Gore), a paid Leadership Team and a group of gap year volunteers.
Nikita, a year 8 student, said: "The people at Lowe House made us all feel really welcome and were fun to be around. I loved playing the Crystal Maze activity and working in teams to see who would win."
