Year 8 Drop Down Day with Daniel Fox Foundation

Year 8 Drop Down Day with Daniel Fox Foundation

Our Year 8s had a fantastic and engaging day recently as part of their special Drop Down Day focusing on a range of topics.

Throughout the day they took part in different workshops in their form groups with St Cuthbert's staff and external charities and foundations.

There was a workshop with our Schools Safety Officer, PC Pender where he spoke groups through the 'One Punch' campaign which aims to raise awareness of One Punch attacks and what the repercussions can be for for everyone involved.

They also had Separation and Bereavement sessions with our brilliant Farne staff as well as Smoking Awareness and Personal Hygiene with a range of St Cuthbert's staff.

The special moment of the day was having Karl Ashton from the Daniel Fox Foundation.

The Foundation’s Knife Awareness Programme adopts an early intervention and prevention approach and works with school children across all Primary and Secondary Schools, Colleges and organisations in St Helens.

Karl is Daniel’s stepfather and CEO for the Daniel Fox Foundation founded in 2017. Karl spoke about his Military background and his work as a Police Officer with Merseyside Police, he said 'he feels he has a personal and committed responsibility as to why the Foundations knife crime educational programme should be delivered to children and young people.'

As a community, we would like to say thank you to Karl and the Foundation for all of their tireless work and brilliant, thought-provoking workshops.
