This morning we came together as a school community to mark Armistice 2023. Our students were a credit to St Cuthbert's, as we reflected and remembered together with dignity and respect.
Thank you to Father Phil who shared fond and loving memories of his experience of living with family members who served during WWII, and who lead us all in beautiful and thoughtful prayer.
We also offered prayers to all those affected by war and conflict today, and to those still serving to keep us safe.
We prayed for future peace across the globe.
We would also like to thank John and Harry, for giving up their time to share in this Service of Remembrance. Both gentlemen are Armed Forces veterans and active members of the Royal British Legion. It was an honour to welcome them to our school.
As Miss Dixon played The Last Post, the flag was lowered and we were united as a school and as a community, to remember the sacrifice of those before us, who have laid down their lives to give us a bright future of freedom and hope.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning
We Will Remember Them
