In October the Metro Mayor announced the LCRCA would be taking back control of bus services across our area. We are now about to start the engagement on franchising the bus network across our region. St Helens will be the first area for this with the rest of Liverpool City Region to follow and become part of the scheme at the same time; however, bus service contracts and engagement will be rolled out across the region from 2005-2026.
The purpose of the engagement is to receive feedback on the current bus network across the St Helens area and to give your service users and staff the opportunity to comment if they feel there are any additional services, links, or revisions that can be incorporated into the final design of the network.
Buses are the backbone of our region’s local transport network with 8 in 10 public transport journeys taken by bus. They are key to keeping our city region moving and to reducing car use, reducing congestion, improving air quality and achieving net zero aims.
It is important to get as many residents as possible to take part in the engagement, so we don’t exclude anyone from participating and your organisation is best positioned to assist us to make those connections.
Please could you share this information with as many of your contacts in the St Helens area and ask them to complete the online survey, the survey will be live from Monday 19th February until Sunday 17th March 2024.
Or alternatively call 0151 330 1005 for a paper version of the survey to be sent out open Monday to Friday from 8am – 6pm, or email us at movingbusesforward@liverpoolcityregion-ca.gov.uk
