Christmas Cookery

Students have been busy learning cake decorating skills in their food lessons this week. Here is a selection of some of the work produced.

Year 7 and 8 have been showing off their skills in decorating with buttercream and fondant icing. We are very impressed with them all.

Year 10 have been making Festive Chocolate Yule Logs that could easily be sold as part of a luxury range for Christmas Foods!

Well done to all our Food Students across the school.

This morning, Mrs Twist and Mr Magee were invited by Year 7 to select the best festive cupcakes in two categories:

1. best piped buttercream effect

2.  best fondant iced cupcake

Mrs Twist was very impressed at the skill shown by Lewis. H  in piping buttercream so neatly and by Charlotte. B for her accuracy and detail when producing her design of holly leaves with intricate detail skillfully scored on top of the holly leaves.

Well done to both of them but it was certainly no easy choice as so many Year 7s have excelled themselves this week. Well done to everyone.  Move over Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry as we have some new food stars in the making at St Cuthbert’s!
