Funding secured to help families during school holidays

St Helens Borough Council has been given grant funding of £730,920 to support families eligible for Free School Meals during the Easter, Summer and Christmas holidays this year.

The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme is targeted at families in receipt of free school meals with the aim of encouraging children to eat more healthily and be active while not in school by attending holiday clubs during the holidays.

Managed by St Helens Borough Council's Early Help service, provision of the programme will be outsourced with the aim of partners like Halton and St Helens Voluntary Community Action coordinating and supporting voluntary and community sector providers.

They will deliver the service in the spirit of the award-winning #StHelensTogether initiative, which recently won the Covid-19 Response Recognition Award at the national iNetwork Award, giving children the opportunity to access a variety of virtual and face-to-face sessions for free. The sessions will include a nutritious meal and a variety of exciting activities and sports.

To see the exciting activities and opportunities that are available, dates and times click here or call Central Link Children’s Centre on 01744 673445.

Book your place as soon as possible, before Sunday 4 April 2021, as numbers are limited (each provider can provide full details of their available sessions upon request).  Please contact the delivery partner directly to book a place.
