Youth SVP Group

Youth Saint Vincent de Paul Society (SVP)

SVP is an international Catholic organisation that aims to alleviate poverty and suffering through acts of service and charity.

Our Youth SVP conference in school is an opportunity for our young people to put our school values and their faith into action. The group follows the SVP’s mission of see, think and do. Our group in school have led charity events such as creating Christmas hampers from toiletries donated by the whole school community during Advent for refugees using the charity Our Warm Welcome, which is based in St. Helens. They have also held cake and craft stalls to raise money for our Lenten charities, collected for local food banks, made Christmas cards for care homes and have visited local community groups like Helping Hands Dementia Café. We are proud of the links we have with the local adult SVP conference. Our Youth SVP group has been visited by the SVP CEO, Elizabet Palmer, who commended our students on their work and featured them in her annual report.

‘Being a member of Youth SVP has been so eye opening. I did not realise how much poverty there is around us. I have loved being able to help make a difference. It is also special being part of big charity like the SVP’. – Ellie year 10
