Year 9 KS4 Options
KS4 option choices should be made carefully and with a long-term view. Subjects at Key Stage 4 are designed to be academically and practically challenging, and students are expected to commit fully to their chosen courses.
Options should not be viewed as a ‘taster’.
Once the options process has closed, courses cannot be changed simply because a subject is found to be demanding or more difficult than expected. For this reason, no option changes will be permitted in September.
A few key reminders:
- All option forms will be reviewed fairly after the deadline.
- GCSE, BTEC and NCFE Level 1/2 qualifications are equivalent in standard.
- Once courses begin in Year 10, changes are extremely difficult, so careful consideration now is important. Please use the Year 9 Careers Google Classroom to research subjects and careers (Code 7663k7q).
- Students must select one subject from each option block, including a first preference and two reserve choices.
We encourage families to take time to read the booklet carefully and discuss choices thoroughly at home before submitting.
